An expert at restructuring operations to reduce costs and enhance revenue, Michael brings vast enterprise level corporate experience in strategic planning and operations across a number of industry verticals.
Michael has deep experience managing technology enabled business ventures as well as defining and setting strategic direction. He most recently restructured and is running the Americas portfolio of businesses at The Associated Press leading broadcast and digital publishing operations and strategy.
Michael additionally serves as an Advisor at Ascendant Industries, where he plays a key role in devising strategies which enhance the operational efficiencies of portfolio companies.
Michael previously served as VP of Business Development at NBC News where he was responsible for revenue expansion across NBC Universal branded platforms. He was instrumental in running and integrating The Weather Channel into NBC and launched several digital businesses for NBC News. In his role as VP of Strategy at NBC corporate Michael drove efficiency around critical business initiatives yielding over $100 million in cost reductions over 18 months. His extensive experience and connections at the highest levels of global media management provides unique access to information and insights into trends few possess.
Prior to joining NBC Universal, Michael was responsible for Global Strategic Services at Cendant Financial where he managed $1B in technology investments and acquisitions, serving as CIO for portfolio businesses. Before Cendant, Michael spent 10 years working as a consultant for Accenture’s New York office. He worked with Fortune 100 companies in the transportation and travel services industry in business analysis, technology strategy, large-scale project management and technology solution delivery. Michael started his career as an engineer at Bell Labs.
Michael serves on multiple boards including serving as the current President of the Harvard Extension Alumni Association and as appointed board member of the Harvard Alumni Association.
Michael holds a Master of Business Administration from Columbia University and a Master of Liberal Arts in Journalism from Harvard University. He also received a BE in Mechanical Engineering, and a BA in English and American Literature from Stevens Institute of Technology.
